Project One – Rate Reducer (Headhunterz Remix) | FL Studio Hardstyle Remake (Lead, Melody & Kick)

In this lesson you’ll learn how to remake “Project One – Rate Reducer (Headhunterz Remix)”. It’s an FL Studio hardstyle remake of the lead, melody and hardstyle kick.

Project One is the alias of Headhunterz & Wildstylez. It’s a musical project and collaboration of these two famous hardstyle artists. This particular song of Project One (Rate Reducer) is the remix by Headhunterz.

Headhunterz lead remake

To do this Headhunterz lead remake, you only need some FL Studio stock plugins. I’m using 3x Osc to recreate the synth and some effects. Of course, the hardstyle lead also plays the same melody as the remix by Headhunterz.

In the second part of the snippet, I added an extra octave to the melody. This is just my own twist and it’s not part of the official track.

Headhunterz kick remake

For the Headhunterz kick I basically used 2 different samples. The first sample is a typical “tok” sound that takes care of the punch/attack of the hardstyle kick. It has that early hardstyle feeling to it.

The second sample is just the bass from another hardstyle kick sample. It’s filtered and the higher frequencies are cut off. Both the tok and the bass work together. When the tok hits, the bass gets reduced in volume. This technique is called “sidechaining“.

The end result isn’t exactly the same, but it’s close enough. At least it should get you somewhere. Try it out and feel free to share your results!
