For today, keep in mind that these are my personal top 5 hardstyle plugins. Your experience might differ. But for each plugin, I have some reasons why I like to use it.

5. FabFilter Pro Q – Effect (Equalizer, EQ)

  • Very easy to use.
  • Notes, frequencies & analyzers can be used to EQ your sounds.
  • Many advanced options to shape your sounds perfectly.
  • MY BEST USE: Mixing & Layering.

4. Izotope Ozone – Effect (Mastering tool)

  • Very flexible design.
  • Many different tools in 1 plugin.
  • Very diverse for shaping your sound or mix.
  • MY BEST USE: Mastering track.

3. Izotope Trash – Effect (Distortion)

  • Very easy to use.
  • Many different distortion types.
  • You can shape these distortion types in many ways.
  • MY BEST USE: Making distorted kicks & screeches.

2. Massive – Synthesizer

  • Can produce sick sounds.
  • Very flexible with almost an infinite amount of possibilities.
  • You can automate about any knob.
  • MY BEST USE: Making screeches & distorted leads.

Honorable mention – Valhalla (Reverb)

  • Great high-quality sounding reverb with many room.

1. Sylenth1 – Synthesizer

  • Very easy to use.
  • Sounds great.
  • Flexible approach to sound design.
  • MY BEST USE: Making leads, strings or “trancy” sound.
