In this lesson you’ll learn how to make a jumpstyle kick in FL Studio with a couple of samples. Of course, you need to have some jumpstyle samples, but many of us do. So, we can use them to create our own unique kicks.

How to make a jumpstyle kick
In this jumstyle kick video I used 3 unique kick samples. Each kick sample has a different job to do.
- The first one is for the sub bass and body of the kick. Typically, the higher frequencies are removed with an equalizer to create room for the character sample.
- The second is for some extra character and distortion. Typically, the lower frequencies are removed with an equalizer to create room for the sub bass.
- And the third is for the snappy punch or attack. Typically, the snappy punch is very short and has a a good amount of higher frequencies.

Use the mixer to form a complete jumpstyle kick
Simply stack the 3 kick samples together and route each to a different mixer track. This way, you can equalize and shape them individually.
Also, it’s a good idea to route every sample to a singular mixer track. All the kick samples then go through that channel for some final equalizing and limiting. This ways, you can melt everything together to form a complete jumpstyle kick.
The result is very solid. With only 3 samples and a few effects, the jumpstyle kick is ready to go!
